Heritage Auctions announced the sale of the world’s most expensive vintage toy, a small figure of Boba Fett from the Star Wars series. The previous record was held by a Barbie doll adorned with a diamond.
This hand-painted Boba Fett figure, only 9.5 centimeters tall, sold for a record $525,000, including auction fees.
The exceptionally high price is partly due to the fact that it is one of only two surviving examples.
This figure dates back to the 1970s and was supposed to be part of the Star Wars collection by Kenner but was never released to the market.
The previous record, held since 2010, was for a Barbie doll with a one-carat diamond (0.2 grams), which sold for $302,000 at that time.
